Raquel Hervás (PhD) works as Associate Professor (Profesora Titular de Universidad) at the Departamento de Ingeniería del Software e Inteligencia Artificial de la Facultad de Informática de la Universidad Complutense de Madrid. She is also a member of the Instituto de Tecnología del Conocimiento.

Her research lies at the intersection of Natural Language Processing and Generation, Accessibility, and Human-Computer Interaction. She specializes in human-centered approaches and methodological aspects of Human-Computer Interaction for user interface design with an special focus on their application to accessibility.

Raquel works on Natural Language Generation, developing real-time text generation tools for various domains, from dialogue systems to narrative texts. She also explores how to apply NLP technologies to Accessibility, applying language generation and processing techniques to support people with disabilities. Raquel has also worked in the field of Figurative Language, exploring how figures of speech like analogies and comparisons can be used to implicitly convey information in automatically generated texts.
